Rolfe, IA – Leroy Simonson Dies Following Tractor Malfunction Accident

Rolfe, IA (September 3, 2021) – On Wednesday, September 1, a farmer lost his life in the aftermath of a serious accident in the Rolfe area. 

Officials from the Pocahontas Sheriff’s Office were alerted to the deadly crash that afternoon. According to initial reports, 83-year-old Leroy L. Simonson was traveling on a tractor at the time of the incident. The work vehicle was connected to a loader attachment. 

The attachment reportedly came loose from the tractor. This caused Simonson to run over the debris. The tractor overturned at this time. Simonson was caught underneath one of the rear tires. The medical examiner was present at the scene to pronounce the victim dead. No further information has been released at this time. 

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the fatal accident is being handled by local law enforcement officers.
