Parkersburg, IA – Mary Vry Dies in Collision with Semi-Truck at Ridge Ave & 300th St

Parkersburg, IA (August 21, 2021) – A woman was killed after being involved in a collision with an 18-wheeler in Parkersburg on Thursday, August 19. 

The incident occurred early that morning at around 9 a.m. Local authorities were called to the scene, which was located at the corner of Ridge Avenue and 300th Street. Initial reports revealed that 82-year-old Mary Vry was traveling behind a semi-truck on Ridge Avenue at the time of the accident. 

The semi reportedly was slowing down to make a left turn onto 300th Street. The woman was unable to slow down and avoid a collision, and the impact caused her vehicle to overturn and leave the roadway. Vry suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported in the collision. 

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
