Trucking Accidents in Iowa
Large trucks transport the majority of items throughout the country, and the sheer size of these enormous vehicles can imperil people traveling in passenger cars on the highway. According to national collision data, smaller automobile occupants are more likely than larger car occupants to suffer life-threatening injuries in an accident, and these occurrences are known to be lethal. Each year, there are over 500,000 transportation accidents, resulting in thousands of deaths and injuries.
Driving alongside massive semi-trucks and tractor-trailers comes with inherent danger, which is why many Iowa drivers have intense feelings of fear whenever they pass an 18-wheeler or other commercial truck on the highway. Every year, a considerable number of people are killed or wounded in crashes involving commercial vehicles, with the vast majority of those killed being passengers and drivers of passenger cars. Although all drivers are expected to follow the same set of rules, operating a huge big rig requires a greater degree of knowledge and experience. Truck drivers who lack the necessary abilities to handle such huge trucks risk causing catastrophic Iowa trucking accidents, which far too often end in the death or injury of innocent persons.
The weight and heft of these massive trucks may cause life-altering injuries in the event of an accident, and trucker deaths have been gradually increasing across the country in recent years. At the Lombardi Law Firm, we recognize that semi-truck accident injuries typically need long-term treatment and can leave victims with life-altering mental and physical stress.
