Wayne Co, IA – David Curtis Fatally Struck in Accident on IA-2
Wayne Co, IA (July 7, 2021) – A Promise City man suffered fatal injuries after being hit by a motor vehicle in Wayne County on Sunday, July 4.
Reports from the Iowa State Patrol indicated that the crash occurred at around 12:57 p.m. on IA-2. Local sources revealed that 67-year-old David Ray Curtis was traveling south across the highway at the time of the accident. It was then that Curtis was struck by an oncoming 2018 Kia Forte operated by 25-year-old Page Marie Mitchell of Seymour.
Seymour was traveling east when she hit Curtis with her vehicle. She reportedly attempted to avoid the accident after noticing the pedestrian and swerved to the left. However, Mitchell was unable to prevent the collision. Curtis was taken to Wayne County Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
An ongoing investigation into the fatal accident is being handled by local authorities.
