Sloan, IA – Child Killed in Westwood Homecoming Parade Accident

Sloan, IA (September 25, 2021) – A deadly accident in Sloan on Friday, September 24, took the life of a young child. 

The incident occurred during the Westwood Community School District homecoming parade. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene that afternoon at around 2 p.m. Authorities were informed of a middle school student who had sustained injuries. 

Officials flew the injured party to MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center for the treatment of critical injuries. The injured party was later pronounced dead. No further information on the incident has been revealed at this time. 

An ongoing crash investigation is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
