How To Pay It Forward with Central Iowa’s Personal Injury LawyersSteveL
As the shut-down wanes and offices started to reopen, the number of potential cases has certainly picked up.
We are getting quite a few calls about potential personal injury cases. They include infants being dropped and injured, bar waitresses being assaulted and battered for something as simple as saying no to a drunk, truck accidents involving failures to stop at stop signs, cars drivers driving too fast, losing control, rolling over and killing passengers, school shop class accidents, pedestrians getting clipped by speeding motorists and a myriad of other cases that piques our interest. Some we take, others we pass on.
The Lombardi Law Firm practices personal injury law and we represent nurses across the State of Iowa. If we can lend a hand to protect your rights, please give us a call in West Des Moines, Iowa.
So, why do we sometimes pass?
We often pass because we know the time and expense for both our firm and our clients will not be worth the time and effort required. Economic feasibility is what I call it. Sometimes there is a case, but the recovery will not justify our being involved. We do not want to waste your time by engaging in litigation that will not put money into your pockets. And that’s not the only reason.
There are several things every case must have, including good liability, sufficient damages to justify the litigation expense along with the time required to put the case together and then last, insurance coverage. These are the requirements for this three-legged stool to stay upright. If you are missing any one, the case has no legs. Two gone and your case really has no legs.
The Lombardi Law Firm follows the motor vehicle accidents all across Iowa. We have represented over a thousand accident victims in almost every county in Iowa. If you have a question about your personal injury accident, call Steve at 515-222-1110 or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org. Here is the contact form.
Some cases we find ourselves telling the potential client they might as well stop calling around to lawyers, because no one is going to take their case, because there isn’t a case. We are not being mean; we are being honest. And that is what we offer, an honest opinion.
I have no idea why lawyers fear telling people the honest reasons behind them declining the case. I do not shy away from just being frank and saying it like it is. I think people would rather be told the truth, even when it isn’t what they want to hear.
We pride ourselves on telling people what they need to hear, not necessarily what they want to hear. I believe it is our ethical obligation to talk with prospective clients and to lay out why there is no case or a weak case or a great case. This is the privilege of practicing in a profession.
Granted I cannot take every call, but we take enough of them to do our part and to fulfill our ethical obligations.
When a lawyer takes their time to explain why you do have a case, do not have a case or why they can not take your case, repay the lawyer by posting a Google Review saying good things about them. It is the least you can do for him or her for taking time out of their busy day to answer your questions. Pay it forward.
The Lombardi Law Firm is a West Des Moines personal injury firm that is selective about which cases we take. We do not shoe every horse that comes in the barn. Nor do we advertise on buses or on TV. We are the peoples’ personal injury lawyers. We help people.
And no, it doesn’t cost you anything to call and just talk to us. Call to schedule a Zoom.
