Des Moines, IA (May 6, 2021) – A motorcyclist and his passenger were killed following a multi-vehicle accident in Des Moines on Tuesday, May 4.
The deadly crash occurred at the intersection of E. 14th Street and E. Washington Avenue. Three vehicles, including two motorcycles, reportedly collided at the scene at around 8:30 p.m. that evening. Three people were reportedly on motorcycles at the time of the collision.
The driver of a motorcycle, 51-year-old Jerry Coles of Des Moines, was pronounced dead at a medical facility, while his passenger, 47-year-old Kristy Hyde of Des Moines, was killed at the scene. The operator of another bike, 46-year-old Stacey Coles-Behle, sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized. The occupants of the third vehicle fled the scene.
An ongoing investigation into the deadly motorcycle crash is in progress.
