Waterloo, IA – Update: Emma Michels Injured in Fatal Accident on Canfield Rd
Waterloo, IA (August 24, 2021) – An Iowa woman was seriously injured and her sister was killed following an accident in Waterloo on Saturday, August 21.
According to reports from the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office, 18-year-old Emma Michels of Maynard was traveling on Canfield Road at the time of the crash. She reportedly entered a railway crossing and was hit by a train. The incident prompted emergency responders to be called to the scene.
Michels was driving and her 15-year-old sister was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Both were taken to a nearby hospital in Waterloo for the treatment of serious injuries. Her sister was later transferred to an Iowa hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
