Pottawattamie Co, IA – Renuka Senavirathna Injured in Pileup Crash on I-80
Pottawattamie Co, IA (June 24, 2021) – On Tuesday, June 23, several people were injured following a three-vehicle accident in Pottawattamie County.
The accident reportedly occurred on Interstate 80 that afternoon. Local reports indicated that 60-year-old Siriyalatha Adikariwas of Huntington Beach, California traveling in a 2021 Toyota Rav4 on the highway as 72-year-old Todd Ladrow, of Colorado Springs, Colorado was operating a 2016 Acura MDX. Both vehicles were traveling west along with a 2012 Dodge Durango driven by 21-year-old Colton Demars of Rawlins, Wyoming.
Due to construction on the roadway, all vehicles were traveling in the right lane. As the Acura and the Rav4 slowed due to the traffic, Demars was unable to avoid crashing into the rear of the Acura, setting off a chain-reaction accident. Demars, 18-year-old Samantha Lloyd of Rawlins, Wyoming, 44-year-old Renuka Senavirathna of Woodland Hills, California, and 45-year-old Priyantha Wathelege of Woodland Hills, California were all transported to Mercy in Council Bluffs for treatment.
Adikari, 67-year-old Haneef Kitchil of Canoga Park, California, and 72-year-old Lona Ladrow of Colorado Springs, Colorado, were taken to Harlan Hospital by ambulance.
An ongoing crash investigation is underway.
