Polk City, IA – Multiple Injuries in Boating Accident on Saylorville Lake
Polk City, IA (July 8, 2021) – Local reports revealed that five people were injured following a boating accident in Polk City on Monday evening, July 5.
According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, five people were on board a boat when it crashed into a pillar at the Mile Long Bridge. The incident occurred late that evening at around 6:15 p.m. Local sources confirmed that 38-year-old Steven Starrett of Pleasant Hill was the owner and operator of the boat at the time of the collision.
Starrett and four other passengers suffered injuries in the aftermath of the incident. The other injured parties were identified as 30-year-old Thorne Glasgow of Indianola, 19-year-old Clayton McKenzie of Prole, 23-year-old Mattie George of Norwalk, and 30-year-old Alexander Buck of Des Moines. At this time, no updates on the conditions of the crash victims have been released to the public.
