Plymouth Co, IA (June 19, 2021) – On Thursday, June 17, an accident involving a semi-truck and a train resulted in confirmed injuries in Plymouth County.
The accident was reported that afternoon at around 1:15 p.m. According to local reports, a semi-truck with a dump trailer filled with gravel was entering a railway crossing about three miles west of Le Mars at the time of impact. The vehicle was subsequently hit by an oncoming Burlington Northern-Sante Fe train.
The semi was reportedly traveling east as the train headed north. The operator of the rig was transported to a hospital in Sioux City for the treatment of sustained injuries. He was reportedly listed in serious condition. The identity of the injured party has been withheld at this time.
