Plymouth Co, IA (August 30, 2021) – Two people sustained injuries in the aftermath of a motorcycle accident on Saturday, August 28, in Plymouth County.
The incident was reported near the crossing of County Road K22 and County Road C38. Officials from the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office were notified of the crash at around 3:20 p.m. that afternoon. Initial reports revealed that 39-year-old Christos Kritis of Sioux City was riding a motorcycle on CR C38 at the time of the collision.
Kritis was reportedly traveling with a group of other motorcyclists. The crew reportedly began to slow down because a vehicle was blocking the opposing lane of traffic. Kritis lost control of the bike. This caused the motorcycle to crash into a nearby ditch.
Both Kritis and his passenger, 35-year-old Ashley Kritis, suffered serious injuries in the crash. Both were transported to MercyOne hospital in Sioux City for treatment. Multiple emergency response units were present at the scene. The area was closed for several hours while medical personnel assisted the injured parties.
An ongoing accident investigation is being handled by local law enforcement officials. More information will be released as it continues.
