Paullina, IA – Marilyn Hodgins Injured in Crash at 500th St & Redwing Ave

Paullina, IA (September 27, 2021) – Two women were injured in the aftermath of a car accident in Paullina on Friday, September 24. 

The site of the crash was located at the crossing of 500th Street and Redwing Avenue. Local authorities were called to the scene at around 4:40 p.m. Local reports revealed that 70-year-old Lenice Mercer Sioux City was driving a 2011 Honda westbound on 500th Street leading up to the accident. 

Local authorities reported that glare from the sun caused Mercer to run a stop sign. The vehicle became airborne and came to a stop on the eastbound side of the roadway. Both Mercer and her passenger, 77-year-old Marilyn Hodgins of Sioux City, were taken by ambulance to Orange City Health System Hospital. 

An ongoing investigation into the accident is underway.
