Le Claire, IA (August 26, 2021) – On Tuesday, August 24, a woman suffered serious injuries after being struck by a piece of debris in Le Claire.
The scene was located on N. Cody Road, according to initial reports. Local sources revealed that 43-year-old Megan Marie Wentland was traveling southbound on the roadway at the time of the accident. It was then that a dump truck leaving a worksite entered the roadway.
According to local witnesses, a piece of concrete was trapped between two tires on the truck. The debris came loose and bounced off the hood of Wentland’s car, crashing through the windshield. The driver was hit in the head. The incident caused Wentland’s vehicle to leave the roadway and enter an embankment. She was taken by ambulance to Genesis Medical Center East in Davenport.
