Grimes, IA – Update: Faustino Mendez Castro Killed in Crash on IA-141
Grimes, IA (November 23, 2021) – Authorities have identified the Perry man who was killed in a car crash in the Grimes area on Monday morning, November 22. First responders were called to the scene of the deadly accident at the intersection of Highway 141 and NE Beaverbrooke Boulevard at 10:40 a.m.
A total of four vehicles were involved in the collision, including a tractor-trailer. All southbound traffic was reportedly stopped at a red light at the time of impact. The driver of a pickup reportedly rear-ended a stopped 2008 Nissan Sentra operated by 47-year-old Faustino Mendez Castro of Perry.
The crash caused Castro’s vehicle to collide with the rear of a trailer pulled by a pickup truck. Castro suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by attending medical personnel.
An ongoing crash investigation is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
