Eddyville, IA – Two-Vehicle Crash with Garbage Truck on US-63 Ends in Fatality
Eddyville, IA (July 17, 2021) – On Friday, July 16, one person was killed and another injured following a two-car accident in Eddyville.
Emergency responders and Mahaska County officials were dispatched to the scene of the deadly crash on US-63 NB at around 4 p.m. According to initial reports, a blue four-door sedan was turning onto the highway when it was broadsided by an oncoming garbage truck. The vehicle became trapped underneath the truck in the impact.
One occupant of the passenger car suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by attending medical personnel. A second occupant was found unresponsive by responding paramedics and transported to a local hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported in the incident, and the identities of the involved parties are currently pending notification of next of kin.
