Eagle Grove, IA – Jeffrey Leonardi Dies in Accident at Prestage Foods Plant

Eagle Grove, IA (September 10, 2021) – On Friday, September 10, an accident at a pork plant in Eagle Grove ended in the death of a worker. 

Local sources revealed that a deadly event occurred early that morning at the Prestage Foods plant. The victim, 57-year-old Jeffrey Leonardi, had reportedly been a mechanic at the company since 2019. According to company sources, the incident took place during the third shift while Leonardi was performing routine maintenance. 

At this time, the circumstances regarding the death have not been disclosed. Emergency responders were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the victim. Despite life-saving measures, Leonardi sustained fatal injuries and was later pronounced dead. 

The company is working in coordination with the Iowa Occupational Safety and Health Administration to investigate the cause of the accident.
