Dunkerton, IA – Multiple Injuries in Deadly Rollover Crash on Mount Vernon Rd
Dunkerton, IA (May 18, 2021) – On Sunday, May 16, a teen was killed and three others injured following a rollover accident in the Dunkerton area.
The fatal crash occurred at the intersection of Mount Vernon Road and Nesbit Road late that evening. A 15-year-old passenger sustained fatal injuries after being ejected from the vehicle after it overturned near the roadway crossing. She was pronounced dead at the scene by attending medical personnel.
Another passenger, a 17-year-old Dunkerton woman, was also ejected and transported to UnityPoint-Allen Hospital in Waterloo before being airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. The 15-year-old driver and another teen passenger were taken to Allen Hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries. The identities of the involved parties have been withheld.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly accident is underway.
