Des Moines, IA – Police Chase Ends in Pileup Injury Crash on Hickman Rd
Des Moines, IA (July 16, 2021) – A pursuit involving local authorities ended in a multi-vehicle accident in Des Moines on Thursday, July 15.
The chase reportedly began after the driver of a pickup truck crashed into a pole at the corner of 44th Street and Hickman Road. Local authorities noticed the pickup and quickly discovered it was stolen, initiating a pursuit. The driver reportedly sped off, traveling east in the westbound lanes of Hickman Road.
The pickup collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Hickman Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway. Five vehicles were reportedly involved in the crash. The driver of the stolen vehicle was ejected and became trapped underneath another car.
The driver was rescued and taken to a local hospital. Another person at the scene was also injured and hospitalized for treatment. Charges are currently pending, and the identities of the involved parties have been withheld.
