Clear Lake, IA – Elderly Iowan Dies After Being Hit on Bicycle
Clear Lake, IA (August 20, 2021) – There were fatal injuries following a collision involving a bicycle and a motor vehicle in the Clear Lake area on Wednesday, August 18.
The deadly crash occurred that afternoon as a 58-year-old cyclist was traveling on a roadway. According to the Iowa State Patrol, an elderly man was riding a bike in the southern area of the city when he was struck. The driver was identified as 94-year-old of Clear Lake.
Emergency responders were called to the scene to render aid to the injured party. The bicyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City for treatment. They were later pronounced dead at the medical facility.
An ongoing crash investigation is underway.
