Cedar Falls, IA – Two Killed in Barn Collapse on Viking Rd

Cedar Falls, IA (July 18, 2021) – A barn collapse in a rural area of Cedar Falls resulted in two confirmed fatalities on Friday evening, July 16. 

The incident occurred at the 9702 block of Viking Road late that night near the time of 6:30 p.m. Initial reports revealed that two people were inside a barn when the roof caved in. Local witnesses told emergency responders that they were unable to communicate with or rescue the trapped victims. 

Local authorities were able to locate two bodies within the debris. Both victims were reportedly killed in the incident. The identities of the deceased parties are currently pending the notification of the next of kin. No further information has been provided at this time. 

An ongoing investigation into the accident is being handled by local law enforcement officials, and more details will be released as the inquiry progresses.
