Two Teenagers Killed In Humboldt Rollover
March 26, 2022 – According to the police and the news Gavin Maines, 17 was killed as was his passenger, Madison Fraker, 18 of Algona when the pickup truck heading westbound on 230th Street and Nevada Avenue in Dakota City rolled. The truck was heading west, had to turn right, didn’t, ended up rolling after entering the west ditch.
Both passengers were ejected from the vehicle. No indication about seatbelts, speed or if the driver had been drinking. Tragedy. Too young to have their lives get taken so soon.
The passenger’s estate has a claim, but the driver’s claims would be pretty difficult to pursue.

KCCI Reported the following: Gavin Maines, 17, of Woolstock, was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck westbound on 230th Street. According to the patrol, Maines was unable to navigate the curve in the road. The vehicle traveled into the west ditch, where it rolled several times. Maines and passenger Madison Fraker, 18, of Algona, were killed in the crash.
The Iowa State Trooper describes the crash sequence as follows:
“VEHICLE WAS WESTBOUND ON 230TH ST WHEN DRIVER FAILED TO NAVIGATE RIGHT HAND, CURVE WENT INTO WEST DITCH ROLLING SEVERAL TIMES, BOTH SUBJECTS WERE EJECTED, ASSISTED AT THE SCENE BY HUMBOLDT CO SHERIFF DEPT, HUMBOLDT EMS, HUMBOLDT CO MEDICAL EXAMINE AND JERGENS TOWING. OFFICER NAME: ISP 246 MISSMAN. POST: 7″
