Atkins, IA – Update: Julie Viet Injured in Head-On Collision on US-30
Atkins, IA (October 26, 2021) – The identities of the people injured in a car crash in Atkins on Saturday, October 23, have been revealed.
Local reports indicated that 43-year-old Julie Viet of Solon was driving a 2017 Toyota Corolla east in the westbound lanes of US-30. Viet reportedly crashed head-on with a 2010 Dodge Avenger at around 8:30 p.m. that night. A 2014 Ford Fiesta driven by 54-year-old Ramon Rodriguez of Toledo was hit by some debris resulting from the crash.
Viet was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids along with 18-year-old Brooklyn Purkeypile of Des Moines and three juveniles. The driver of the Dodge, 19-year-old Keagan Devore of Des Moines, was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment of serious injuries. No other information has been provided.
