Allamakee Co, IA – Sandra Davis-McDowell Injured in Deadly Crash on Volney Rd
Allamakee Co, IA (June 17, 2021) – On Wednesday, June 16, a traffic accident in Allamakee County resulted in a fatality.
According to initial reports, the fatal crash occurred that morning near the time of 4:45 a.m. The scene was located at the crossing of Volney Road and Country Road. Authorities reported that 60-year-old Algie Crowder was driving a 2019 Freightliner Semi-Truck northbound on Volney Road at the time of the incident.
Crowder reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing the truck to enter a nearby ravine. Both Crowder and a passenger in the pickup were ejected in the crash. Crowder sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, Sandra Davis-McDowell, was taken to a nearby hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is being managed by local authorities.
