Sioux Co, IA – James Keizer Injured in Bus Collision at 370th St & Hickory Ave
Sioux Co, IA (May 22, 2021) – On Friday, May 21, a two-vehicle collision in Sioux County resulted in multiple injuries.
Officials from the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene at around 3:50 p.m. that afternoon. A 2017 Blue Bird bus reportedly collided with a 2012 Jeep Liberty at the corner of 370th Street and Hickory Avenue. The operator of the bus, 74-year-old James Keizer of Hull had stopped at the intersection and was in the process of making a turn onto Hickory Avenue at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Jeep, a 17-year-old Orange City girl, was traveling eastbound and rear-ended the bus, causing her vehicle to become trapped underneath. The driver was extricated by emergency responders before being airlifted to Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Keizer was transported to Hegg Health Center Avera in Rock Valley for the treatment of sustained injuries.
An ongoing investigation into the accident is underway.
Our thoughts are with James Keizer, the injured party, and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
