Polk Co, IA – Passenger Critically Injured in Accident on Berwick Dr
Polk Co, IA (May 16, 2021) – The passenger involved in a single-vehicle crash in Polk County on Friday, May 14, was left with critical injuries.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of a motor vehicle was traveling on NE Berwick Drive when they lost control near the 6600 block. The car crashed into a guard rail on the bridge. The vehicle fell off the roadway, causing the passenger to be pierced by a wooden rail.
Emergency responders had to extricate the injured passenger using the Jaws of Life. The victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. The driver sustained minor injuries, and the identities of the involved parties have not been disclosed.
Local authorities are managing the ongoing investigation into the accident.
