Floyd, IA – UPDATE: Brandon Hummel Injured in Crash at US-218 & 155th St
Floyd, IA (May 13, 2021) – The identities of those injured in a two-vehicle crash in the Floyd area on Monday, May 10, have been released by local authorities.
The accident reportedly occurred at the intersection of US-218 and 155th Street at around 2:25 p.m. Initial reports revealed that a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban driven by 19-year-old Elizabeth Schmidt of Charles City was traveling westbound on the highway at the time of the impact. Schmidt reportedly attempted to pass a road grader that was sending dust into the air, impairing visibility.
Her SUV collided with a 2015 Ford Edge driven by 35-year-old Brandon Hummel of Riceville. Schmidt was taken to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, and her passenger, 20-year-old Joseph Holzer of Charles City, was taken to MercyOne North Iowa Cancer Center. Hummel was also hospitalized at MercyOne North Iowa Cancer Center.
An ongoing investigation into the incident is underway.
