Mt Pleasant, IA – Passenger Injured in Car Accident on IA-78
Mt Pleasant, IA (October 10, 2021) – A passenger was hospitalized following a single-vehicle crash in Mount Pleasant on Thursday, October 7.
The accident took place on IA-78 near Marsh Avenue, according to initial reports. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office reported that 58-year-old Judy Hazlett was traveling east when she swerved to avoid an animal at around 2:45 p.m. The vehicle entered a ditch where it struck a utility pole.
A passenger in the car was transported to Henry County Health Center Emergency Room for treatment. Hazlett was reportedly cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle. No further information has been provided at this time.
An ongoing crash investigation is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
