Maquoketa, IA – Michael Griffin Killed in Collision at US-61 & Hurstville Rd
Maquoketa, IA (November 18, 2021) – Two people were killed and two others injured after a car accident in Maquoketa on Tuesday night, November 16. The fatal crash was reported at around 5 p.m. at the crossing of US-61 and Hurstville Road.
A Ford Fusion was reportedly headed southbound on US-61 at the time of the crash. The vehicle reportedly attempted to make a left turn onto Hurstville Road. The Ford collided with a Dodge Ram pickup truck headed northbound. The impact caused both vehicles to enter the ditch. 68-year-old Garrish Lafayette and 61-year-old Michael Griffin sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Two other occupants were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
An ongoing crash investigation is being managed by local authorities.
