First Priority – WELFARE FOR RICH PEOPLE

In Iowa, Rich Parents Are Treated Better than Injured Workers

Iowa Republicans recently passed a law making Iowans responsible to pay for private school expenses and also public school expenses. How can giving welfare to rich people ever be considered conservative politics? In whose imagination is it conservative? People who can afford to pay for their children’s private education now have the State of Iowa Treasury bankrolling their tuition.

Second Priority – WELFARE FOR IOWA CHURCHES

The Governor called it “Education Savings Accounts”. That is a deflection. These are not savings accounts because no one earned the money and saved even one dime of what goes into those accounts. The title is a deflection from what this really is about and make no mistake this is the Iowa Republican Party buying votes from the religious right. That money is welfare for the rich and welfare for churches.

Welfare for rich people sending their children to private schools and welfare for churches who can use the money however it chooses to use our tax dollars.

STOP DENYING WORKERS THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE THEIR OWN DOCTORS

But here is the part that really galls me. The Governor said this choice of education for parents is important enough to use your tax dollars to make it affordable. Yet the Governor does not see an injured worker having the same right to choose who treats their medical conditions after a work injury. The employer’s insurance company makes that choice.

If you work for a living here is what you need to know. When you are at work, get injured and need surgery you don’t get to choose who will cut on you, who will repair your spine, fix your broken arms, legs or who will drill a hole in your skull to relief the pressure of a swollen brain and the brain damage you are suffering.

No, you don’t choose who the doctors are, some insurance adjuster with maybe no education beyond high school makes that decision. And if the doctor does it wrong, good luck trying to find a lawyer to help you with filing a medical malpractice lawsuit. They choose, they control, you suffer and then you pay for their mistakes for the rest of your life.

Third Priority – WELFARE IN EXCHANGE FOR CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS

Here is how the Governor prioritizes important decisions. The Governor doesn’t care about injured workers because they do not have tens of thousands of dollars to donate to her campaign.

Make no mistake about it, Iowa’s working class is not Reynold’s customers.

The Religious Right delivers votes and money.

Special interest groups deliver campaign contributions.

Insurance companies contribute heavily.

So they are the Governor’s customers.

The workers are the product by which they all profit.

And those who donate to campaigns, are worthy of welfare.

This private tuition program being bankrolled by your tax dollars, is welfare for the rich.

Fourth Priority – MORE WELFARE FOR THE IOWA GOVERNOR

The Governor is disingenuous, at best or purposefully deceptive.

But, what can we expect from someone who never graduated from any of the four colleges she attended; and who in the end, in order to try to make her look legitimate, was given a fake degree by Iowa State University.

She’s been feeding out of the public trough for well over 25 years. She knows nothing better because she lacks an education.

She fights like Hell against forgiving even a small portion of student loan debt, but then she accepted a $65,000 degree without paying a dime.

Make no mistake about it, this program of paying tuition in private schools, is Welfare for Rich People.

ARE THESE NEW IDEAS OR SIMPLY AN OLD FORM OF ORGANIZED CORRUPTION?

For the Governor it is about buying votes. When I grew up in Rhode Island my relatives called this organized crime. To call it anything else requires one to shut off their conscience.
