Des Moines, IA – Update: John Schmidt Killed in Collision on US-65
Des Moines, IA (August 27, 2021) – Local authorities have identified the man who was killed following a three-car crash in Des Moines on Thursday, August 26.
Local reports revealed that 53-year-old John Schmidt of Pleasantville was headed south on US-65 at the time of the crash. Near Army post Road, Schmidt lost control of his vehicle due to a medical episode. He veered across the center lane and was hit by two oncoming vehicles.
Emergency responders were sent to the scene of the crash. Schmidt was pronounced dead at the scene by attending medical personnel. There were other reported injuries as a result of the impact. At this time, no further information has been provided.
