Cedar Rapids, IA – Two Juveniles on Scooter Injured at Mt Vernon Rd & 15th St
Cedar Rapids, IA (June 10, 2021) – On Wednesday, June 9, there were serious injuries reported in the aftermath of an accident involving a scooter and a motor vehicle in the Cedar Rapids area.
Emergency responders and officials from the Cedar Rapids Police Department were called to the scene at around 4:03 p.m. Two boys under the age of 12 were riding a scooter on an alley located between 15th Street SE and Camburn Court SE. The pair entered Mount Vernon Road where they were hit by a red Pontiac.
When authorities arrived, they found the rental scooter lying on the road, and the Pontiac had a broken windshield. Both of the children were transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment of sustained injuries. No further updates have been provided at this time.
An ongoing crash investigation is being managed by local officials.
