Jackson Co, IA – Boating Accident on Mississippi River Injures Two

Jackson Co, IA (September 6, 2021) – Two people suffered serious injuries in the aftermath of a boating accident in Jackson County on Sunday, September 5. 

The incident took place early that morning at around 10:30 a.m. outside of Sabula. Two boats were reportedly traveling on the Mississippi River. Local authorities were called to the scene after the two vessels collided due to one following too closely. 

The crash left the operator and passenger of one of the boats with serious injuries. One of the injured parties was taken to MercyOne Clinton Medical Center. Another victim was flown to Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Illinois. Initial sources that all equipment on board the boats were functioning at the time of the accident. 

The identities of the victims have been withheld. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is underway.
