Maquoketa, IA – Terry Hansen Dies in Car Accident S Main St
Maquoketa, IA (June 16, 2021) – A single-vehicle crash in the Maquoketa area on Tuesday, June 15, resulted in one fatality and other serious injuries.
Local reports revealed that 77-year-old Terry L. Hansen of DeWitt was traveling in the vehicle at the time of the crash and suffered fatal injuries. According to the Maquoketa Police Department, 53-year-old Sheri T. Snyder of Maquoketa was driving the vehicle northbound at the 200 block of S. Main Street at around 5:15 p.m. that evening. Snyder was unable to stop the car due to brake failure and had to swerve in order to avoid crashing into a stopped vehicle near Pleasant Street.
The vehicle ultimately slammed into a limestone planter located on the sidewalk. Hansen was transported to Jackson County Regional Health Center where he later succumbed to his injuries. Snyder and another passenger, 63-year-old Robert E. Hayton, also from DeWitt, were taken to the same hospital in serious condition.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is underway, and more information will be provided as it continues.
