Spencer, IA – Alex Leewright Killed in Motorcycle Accident on US-71
Spencer, IA (May 17, 2021) – A two-vehicle collision in Spencer resulted in the death of a motorcyclist on Saturday, May 15.
Initial reports indicated that the fatal crash took place at the intersection of US-71 and 13th Street SW. At around 3:30 p.m., a Honda motorcycle was reportedly involved in a crash with a minivan. Local sources later revealed that the van was making a turn when it entered the path of the motorcyclist.
The rider crashed into the front of the van and was ejected from the bike. The rider, 31-year-old Alex Leewright, was transported to Spencer Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the van, 28-year-old Michelle Schuck of Sheldon, was uninjured.
An ongoing investigation into the deadly crash is underway.
