Sheldon, IA – Marvella Falkena Injured in Collision at Crossroads Dr & Park St
Sheldon, IA (June 22, 2021) – On Friday, June 18, there were confirmed injuries in the aftermath of a two-car crash in the Sheldon area.
The Sheldon Police Department reported that the accident occurred that afternoon at around 2 p.m. Two vehicles collided at the intersection of Crossroads Drive and Park Street near the Sheldon Bomgaars store. Local sources revealed that 79-year-old Marvella Joy Falkena of Hospers was driving a 2016 Honda Pilot traveling south on Crossroads Drive when she entered the intersection after stopping at the stop sign.
As entered the crossing, she was hit by a 2019 Kia Sorrento operated by 33-year-old Paige Marie Graves of Paulina. Graves told authorities she was unable to avoid the collision. Falkena and a 12-year-old passenger in the Kia were transported to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center for the treatment of sustained injuries.
An ongoing investigation into the accident is underway.
