Hull, IA – Lorna Moss Killed After Bike Hit on Hickory Ave

Hull, IA (September 4, 2021) – A Sioux City woman lost her life in the aftermath of a bicycle accident in Hull on Friday, September 3. 

The deadly crash occurred late that night at around 6 p.m. According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, 69-year-old Lorna Moss was riding a bicycle northbound on Hickory Avenue at the time of the incident. She was reportedly struck from behind by a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan. 

Moss suffered critical injuries due to the collision. She was transported to Sioux Center Health where she later succumbed to her injuries. Local reports indicated that the driver, 27-year-old Seth De Jong of Doon, was under the influence at the time of the crash. He was taken to Sioux County Jail for charges related to DUI, reckless driving, and homicide. 

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the fatal bicycle crash is underway.
