Hamilton Co, IA – Joanna Rizzo Dies in Crash with Semi I-35
Hamilton Co, IA (August 5, 2021) – A two-vehicle collision in Hamilton County resulted in the death of a local woman.
The fatal crash occurred on Interstate 35 near mile marker 141 late that night at around 9:30 p.m. According to the Iowa State Police, 61-year-old Anthony Nessa of Webster City was operating an international tow truck when he was struck by a Suzuki Grand Vitara. A passenger in the Suzuki sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Multiple emergency response units were called to assist at the scene. The deceased victim was later identified as 51-year-old Joanna Rizzo. The driver of the Suzuki, 58-year-old James Bergert of Williams, was also injured in the accident. At this time, no further information on the fatal incident has been provided.
An ongoing investigation into the accident is currently in progress.
