Alvord, IA – William Payton Hit, Injured by BNSF Train on 210th St
Alvord, IA (May 25, 2021) – A Sioux Falls man was hospitalized after his car was hit by a train on Friday, May 21, in Alvord.
The incident occurred at around noon near a railway crossing on 210th Street. The Lyon’s County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 2019 Ford Explorer driven by 64-year-old William Payton of Sioux Falls was traveling westbound on the roadway at the time of the accident. The man was struck by a BNSF Railway train while crossing the tracks.
First responders were dispatched to the scene to provide aid to the victim. Payton was injured and transported by ambulance to Avera McKennan Hospital for treatment. No further information on the incident has been provided at this time.
Law enforcement officials are handling the ongoing crash investigation.
