Cedar Rapids, IA – Multiple Injuries in Warehouse Fire on Willow Creek Dr
Cedar Rapids, IA (June 21, 2021) – On Friday night, June 18, a fire at a warehouse in Cedar Rapids left multiple parties with injuries.
The incident was reported late that evening at around 9:45 p.m. The local fire department was called to a fire at the PMX storage warehouse located at the 5300 block of Willow Creek Drive. The incident involved a pallet of metal fines and shavings, according to local sources.
When emergency crews arrived, they located a flaming pile of totes that contained multiple metals, including zinc, copper, nickel, silicate, manganese, magnesium, and phosphorus. Responding firefighters were able to put out the flames quickly. Two workers were injured in the fire. One refused treatment while the other was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment.
A firefighter was also hospitalized after the incident. The cause of the fire has not been determined. Local authorities are investigating the cause of the blaze.
