Janesville, IA – Azra Ponjevic Killed in Two-Car Collision on US-218
Janesville, IA (May 30, 2021) – An auto accident in the Janesville area left one woman dead and multiple other victims injured on Thursday, May 27.
Local sources revealed that the deadly crash occurred on US-218 at around 9 p.m. that evening. A pickup truck driven by 59-year-old Terry Dawes of Waterloo crossed the median on the highway and crashed head-on with an oncoming SUV. According to the Iowa State Patrol, a passenger in the SUV, 27-year-old Azra Ponjevic also of Waterloo, was killed in the collision.
The driver of the SUV, 36-year-old Willie Walker also from Waterloo, was injured following the accident, along with two other passengers, 25-year-old Eric Bickerstaff and 28-year-old Necmurie Cruz. Terry also sustained injuries following the impact. All the injured parties were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
An ongoing investigation into the deadly crash is underway.
