Atkins, IA – Six Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision on US-30
Atkins, IA (October 24, 2021) – There were multiple injuries in the aftermath of a pileup crash in Atkins on Saturday, October 23.
The incident occurred on US-30 near 32nd Avenue in Benton County late that evening at around 8:29 p.m. According to local reports, a 2017 Toyota Corolla was traveling east in the westbound lanes when it crashed head-on with a 2010 Dodge Avenger. A 2014 Ford Fiesta was struck by debris resulting from the impact.
Six people, including three juveniles, were injured in the accident. One victim was taken to UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Another was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. No additional information has been released at this time.
An ongoing accident investigation is in progress.
