Strawberry Point, IA – Gerald, Jeanette Jones Injured in Semi Crash on IA-3
Strawberry Point, IA (November 2, 2021) – A two-vehicle collision in Strawberry Point involving a semi-trailer left two people injured on Monday, November 1.
The crash was reported that day at around 4:30 p.m. The scene was located on IA-3 near Cedar Avenue. Local reports revealed that 22-year-old Travis Kelchen of Edgewood was headed westbound in a semi-tractor trailer at the time of the crash.
As Kelchen went over a hill, he came upon vehicles that were stopped due to traffic. An attempt to avoid a crash resulted in Kelchen crossing the centerline. The semi collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by 78-year-old Gerald Jones of Edgewood. Both Jones and his passenger, 70-year-old Jeanette Jones, were taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City for treatment.
