Dubuque Co, IA – Nicholas Silich Dies in Trucking Accident on US-151
Dubuque Co, IA (July 26, 2021) – A collision involving a semi-truck in Dubuque County ended in the death of an Epworth man on Saturday, July 24.
According to initial reports, the deadly accident took place on US-151 near the intersection with Monastery Road. Emergency personnel were called to the scene at around 10:30 p.m. that evening. The Iowa State Patrol revealed that a passenger car was headed southbound on the highway as an 18-wheeler traveled westbound on the crossroad.
The two vehicles reportedly collided shortly after entering the intersection. The driver of the automobile, 23-year-old Nicholas Silich of Epworth, sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The operator of the commercial vehicle, 56-year-old Curt Bockenstedt of Strawberry Point, was not injured in the accident.
Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. An ongoing investigation into the collision is underway.
