Vail, IA – Injuries Following Head-On Collision at US-30 & 370th St
Vail, IA (July 16, 2021) – On Wednesday, July 14, two men suffered serious injuries in the aftermath of a head-on crash outside of Vail.
The Iowa State Patrol revealed that the incident occurred near the crossing of US-30 and 370th Street near the time of 5:59 a.m. that morning. Local reports indicated that 36-year-old Wyant Lee Unruh of Carroll was headed westbound in a 2016 Nissan Rogue on the highway. At the same time, 30-year-old Luke Matthew Crampton of Vail was headed eastbound in a 2000 Toyota Camry.
Unruh reportedly entered the eastbound lanes to pass another vehicle on US-30, entering into the path of Crampton’s Toyota. Unruh attempted to swerve and avoid the crash but collided with the front passenger side of the Camry. Both drivers were transported to Crawford County Memorial Hospital for the treatment of sustained injuries before being transferred to a medical facility in Omaha, Nebraska.
Unruh was cited for traveling on the wrong side of the road. An ongoing investigation into the incident is being undertaken by local officials.
